Personal notification preferences vs org email templates: user opt-in vs owner-managed transactional copy.

Two layers control email:

  1. Org templates + channels (owner) — whether/how the org can send, and what the email looks like.
  2. Personal preferences (each user) — which notification categories you want to receive.

What it is

If org sending is disabled or the channel is broken, personal preferences cannot create mail. If org sends but you opted out, you will not receive that category.

  • Personal: account / profile notification preferences
  • Org: Organization settings → Notifications (owners)
