How GSC data relates to rank tracking data
How GSC clicks/impressions relate to RankWatch rank tracking: complementary signals, not identical positions.
GSC and RankWatch rankings answer different questions. Use them together; do not expect row-for-row parity.
What it is
| Signal | Source | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Rank / SERP snapshot | RankWatch crawls | Position for tracked keywords on a schedule |
| Clicks, impressions, CTR, avg position | Google Search Console | Google-reported performance for queries/URLs Google shows you |
Why they differ
- GSC includes queries you may not track in RankWatch.
- RankWatch includes tracked terms with little/no GSC traffic yet.
- Devices, anonymization, and averaging differ from a single rank check.
- Timing: crawl day vs GSC delay (often ~1–2 days).
