Missing GSC data — common causes
Common causes of empty or incomplete Google Search Console data in RankWatch: OAuth, wrong property, sync lag, filters, or permissions.
Empty Search Console dashboards are usually connection, property, sync, or filter issues — not missing RankWatch rankings.
What it is
A checklist when GSC Overview / Keywords / Pages / Paths show no rows or unexpectedly low metrics.
Common causes
- Not connected — Google OAuth never completed for the project (connect GSC).
- Wrong property — Domain vs URL-prefix mismatch, or a property for a different site (choose properties).
- First sync / backfill still running — Short window unlocks first; history fills later.
- Google permission gaps — The Google user lacks access to that Search Console property.
- Filters — Country/device/date filters hide the data you expect.
- OAuth revoked — User revoked RankWatch in Google Account permissions; reconnect from Settings.
- Role cannot see GSC — Workspace role missing GSC read permissions.
Where to check
- Project Search Console → Settings (property name, connection status)
- Overview date range and country/device filters
- Google Search Console directly for the same property (sanity check)
