Rankings not updating — common causes
Common causes when RankWatch rankings stop updating: paused jobs, crawl schedule, credits, failed checks, wrong context, or permissions.
When Rankings look “stuck,” the UI is usually still correct — jobs are paused, delayed, failing, or you are on the wrong search context.
What it is
A troubleshooting checklist for SEO rank checks that do not refresh on the schedule you expect.
Common causes
- Paused keywords / tracking — Paused jobs do not crawl until resumed (pause when credits are tight).
- Crawl frequency — Daily vs less frequent schedules change when the next check runs.
- Credits or package tracking limits — Exhausted credits or seat/tracking caps block new jobs; check Billing / Package.
- Failed or in-progress jobs — Watch the project calculation / recheck status banner; failed checks keep the last successful snapshot.
- Wrong search context — Rankings are per engine/location; confirm you opened the context that received new keywords.
- Permissions — Viewers see data but cannot recheck or unpause; operators need keyword/tracking permissions.
- On-demand recheck not used — Scheduled crawls have not run yet; use Recheck when you need an immediate refresh (uses credits).
